At the beginning of the second part a woman is seen from the waist up, taking a shower. Her breasts are Clearly visible twice for extended periods. (Personal opinions deleted.)
An image of a magazine showing Madonna topless is seen very briefly on two occasions.
A man walks by a woman, pinches her behind, calls her “lover” and mentions “shagging”.
A man and a woman kiss passionately in the backseat of a car. Intensity increases and eventually we see him uncovering and kissing one of her breasts.
In the third part, there is a little boy running around without pants on (maybe 4 years old?).

1、 In the sound of the broken rainbow, the setting sun stands

In 1992, the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia disintegrated and separated into six independent republics, one of which is the Republic of Macedonia with a population of more than 2 million. The long-standing ethnic contradictions in Yugoslavia have become one of the main reasons for the disintegration. Ethnic contradictions and grievances among Croats (Croats), Serbs (Serbs) and Muslims have been going on for a long time. For the local people, when the country is on the verge of fragmentation, ethnic unity is more important than national relations.

As early as after the election of the former Federal Republic of Yugoslavia in 1990, the crisis of civil war has threatened the stability of various places. Albanians living in Kosovo autonomous province of Serbia are equipped with smuggled weapons for self-protection. Subsequently, the Serbs were unwilling to show weakness and armed. Since then, the order of the presidium of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia on dissolving the “illegal paramilitary armed forces” has also been rejected many times, and many ceasefire agreements mediated by the United Nations have also been destroyed. By 1993, the civil war in Yugoslavia had caused losses of US $20 billion, including tens of thousands of casualties and 3 million refugees.

Macedonia, which originally belonged to Serbia, was separated by Tito in 1946. After independence in 1992, it was condemned by Greece because of its name and blocked by Greece’s economy. In the following years, Macedonia was restless because of the Kosovo war and civil war. Despite the unrest, the Macedonian people still seek survival and pursue the best and most beautiful things in life. Just like the climate in Macedonia: the highest temperature in summer can reach 40 degrees Celsius, and the lowest temperature in winter can be as low as minus 30 degrees Celsius. Cold death and blazing emotion are destined to thrive on the land here.

After the founding of the Republic of Macedonia, the first film “rainstorm is coming” describes the story in this violent and conflict environment.

In a country plagued by war for many years, the shadow of violence has long become a part of people’s life. It can be seen everywhere in the film that 7 or 8-year-old children hold guns higher than themselves, which are their amulets and toys. Their childhood was also full of games played by force. As in the first story (speech), the children who fight turtles in a circle are brave and cruel. They put the turtle into a fire circle and then throw a handful of bullets into the fire. The sound of “crackling crackling” made unknown adults tremble in the distance, but they clapped and jumped in front of the dying turtle. Death has become their entertainment. All they need to dig is countless ways to death.

Residents living in the same world are like neighbors living in the same street. People can’t only care about their homes and turn a deaf ear to the suffering of others. Things always follow the law of “Butterfly Effect” and invade everyone’s life in unpredictable ways. In the second story (face), the radio in London broadcast the news that five illegal Romanian immigrants tried to sneak into the United States by cargo ship. This kind of thing may happen every day. It is immediately covered by huge and messy messages. Few people will calm down and think about the national conditions of these immigrants and what makes them risk their lives and abandon their land. The black-and-white photos in Anne’s hands are all taken of war-torn lives: Skinny refugees, miserable children, children covered with blood, young people who worship the Nazi spirit, and old people crying on tombstones. The tragedy in these photos not only makes people feel pity and sympathy, but also affects and changes everyone’s life.

Faith is one of the bridges connecting people from different countries. Both the Orthodox Church and Catholicism belong to the Christian religion. The orthodox church is the main belief of the Macedonian people, and there are many Catholic churches in London. Anna stopped when she heard the children singing in the Catholic Church in London, and Corey of Macedonia looked at the portrait of Jesus with reverent eyes in the church prayer ceremony. Are people of the same faith closely linked to fate? But the life gap between children in London and children in Macedonia is so big. Both the director and the audience can’t help asking why people bathed in the light of the same faith are in such different situations? Turtles in London restaurants can swim and play in aquariums without worrying about food and clothing, while turtles in Macedonia are shrouded in death like people. The quarrel between two people speaking foreign languages and the subsequent shooting made it impossible for people to regard the civil war of other countries as harmless jokes on the table. Violence, violence anywhere in the world should be stopped.

The rainy season in London coincides with the rainy season in Macedonia. Alexander, who had been away from his country for many years, couldn’t wait to return to his hometown. He was greeted by a black muzzle and people’s eyes full of fear and doubt. The houses in those years still stand in place, but some are broken, but people’s fragmented life can not be patched up by repairing the tiles of the house. The sight of the child holding a heavy machine gun aimed at him like a joke made people tremble. The world becomes frightening in the muzzle of this weak arm.

“When the birds flew over the cloudy sky, people were silent. My blood was pained by waiting.” This is the poem quoted at the beginning of the film, describing the suffocating silence before the rainstorm. In addition to the haze before the rainstorm, there is an unspeakable heaviness and the sadness of lonely geese in the poem, as if the coming is not just the rainstorm, but the death raging like the rainstorm and overturning their homes. This is a feeling that has been lingering in the film, and it is also a dark cloud that lingers in the director’s mind.

2、 A rainstorm is coming

1. Words

Kerry is a priest of the Orthodox Church. In order to achieve positive results as soon as possible, he made a silent oath to temper his will by not talking. Samina is an Albanian girl who suddenly broke into Keri’s retreat in order to avoid being chased and killed by her enemies (mitt et al). Samina only speaks Albanian, while Corey only understands Macedonian. They can’t communicate through language, but they can understand each other’s good deeds and frightened eyes.

In Macedonia, 70% of people believe in the Orthodox Church and 29% convert to Islam. The film shows some extreme Muslims in Macedonia (i.e. followers of Islam). They pay special attention to women’s chastity. In order to keep Samina’s virginity, his father even shaved his daughter’s hair and pretended to be a boy. Whether she kills or is raped to protect herself, she will be regarded as a stain of the family and executed by her relatives. That’s why she hid in the monastery and didn’t dare to go home.

When mitt led the crowd to search the church, even the priest had nothing to do with him. What the director shows us is that hatred has transcended faith and religion and is above everything. Although mitt also crossed his chest and believed in God, there was only one sentence “an eye for an eye” throughout all his actions. They recklessly searched around the church, trampled, shot, and even a kitten. No one can tell when the so-called national hatred began and why the two sides should go to war. People simply and mechanically repeat a dogma, that is, “tooth for tooth, eye for eye”. When a person dies, there will be a corresponding death as a sacrifice for revenge. If no one stops, revenge becomes a hell that controls everyone’s soul. Hatred and subsequent revenge are all their lives. It can be seen from the film that they even enjoy the right brought by the possession of weapons, that is, the right to control life and death. The people standing outside the church at night, laughing and shooting into the sky, trampled on the dignity of life and faith. Originally, the hatred between nations has long been covered by the great power of hatred itself. Hatred is the action itself, which does not need any other reasons, verbal support and justification. Words lose their power in the face of hatred and have no strength to resist.

This also makes Kerry’s silence more like an unremitting confrontation. Facing the beautiful scenery, we can enjoy it silently without praise. In the face of hatred, we can bear it silently, but we can’t resist it.

In the story, the power supporting father Corey’s resistance is love. He abandoned his name, faith, oath and religion just to protect the girl. There are always people and emotions that transcend other nothingness. In a world where words have lost their power, language barriers will never hinder their communication. Hatred can make brothers fight each other, but love makes people who can’t speak understand each other. Kerry’s eyes in the church are full of reverence and unknown. When facing Samina, his eyes are blazing and determined. Love is enough for him to achieve good results and become his faith.

“In the depths of this situation, the red paper is colorless.” The depth of love makes words lose color.

2. Faces

Anne, who lives in London, seems to have nothing to do with what happened in Macedonia, but we see her life gradually changed by the violent images in distant countries. She is the lover of Alexander Kurt, Corey’s uncle in London. She is a photographer. She is very sad about Alexander’s leaving. Alexander wanted to return to his hometown because he was saddled with the regret of killing. After years of running, he saw the scarcity of peace in some countries, which also made his homesickness more intense. He is not afraid of wars in other countries, let alone the current situation in his hometown.

Ann and her husband Nick are discussing the relationship between them. Everyone in the restaurant noticed the dispute between the foreign bartender and his fellow countrymen, but no one took action. People just looked at the fire from the shore. As the struggle between them escalated, people began to realize the threat. Some people choose to go away, others continue to stay. When the troublemakers turned back again and opened fire wantonly with pistols to vent their discontent, violence has completely invaded the backbone of London. The bartender died and more others were affected. Nick’s cheek was opened by a bullet.

Face is one of the important signs to recognize a person. Ann once looked at the face of the opposite person twice, but it was difficult to recognize. One was in a taxi, facing Alexander who insisted on returning home, and the other was facing Nick whose face was smashed in the restaurant. The existence of violence makes people difficult to recognize the face of the world again and again, so they have to let the original beautiful and peaceful face gradually blur.

3. Picture

Finally, Alexander Kurt returned to his hometown Macedonia after 24 years of wandering. Here, he has been to Romania, El Salvador, Angola and Bosnia, different countries, the same years of war, let him know that “peace is the exception, not the rule”. If he was destined to die of bullets, he would rather die at the muzzle of his hometown.

In Macedonia, the Pulitzer Prize will not impress people. People are still working hard to survive and have no time to take into account too many floating honors. When the wanderer came home after many years, although he had the brand of countless countries and even gun marks on his body, he had a sense of belonging that “the local accent has not changed and the hair on his temples has faded”. My old friend is still there, but it’s not what it was many years ago. The conflict between nations makes the previously familiar friends look like strangers. Even relatives can also talk about the past by pushing cups and changing lamps. The next second, they have raised their guns to each other.

Seeing Alexander and Mitt’s family happy and taking photos together, it’s hard to imagine that they will be the same group as the violent bloodthirsty elements in the first story. In Macedonia and other countries with similar situations, the perpetrators of atrocities are not specially trained soldiers, but civilians. Raise the gun, they are the murderers who kill without blinking an eye. Put down the gun, they are the loving father, the husband who takes care of the family, the filial son and the righteous brother. The most terrible thing is that the atrocities of hatred have gone deep into their lives and become an important part of their lives. This is not a problem that can be easily solved by signing an armistice agreement, but an attitude of life that needs to be reversed and separated.

Alexander’s return represents the olive branch of seeking reconciliation between ethnic contradictions. His years abroad made him clearly realize how stupid this isolation and hatred was. Not only hurt innocent people, but also separated friendship and love. If Alexander wants to see the Muslim daughter, he can only make himself a foreigner from London, not a Macedonian, otherwise he will fall into a vortex of contradictions. Despite some scruples, Samina’s grandfather let Alexander into the house. In the face of friends I haven’t seen for many years, the problems between nationalities appear to be eye-catching and annoying. On the one hand, not everyone is willing to get involved in contradictions and conflicts. They also want to have normal family and friends. They hope to hold the hand of strangers and say hello affectionately, instead of drawing a gun every time. Perhaps the elderly are more likely to have these ideas, because they have experienced a period of peace, equality and friendship. Obviously, such days are more memorable, and the endless killing is always disgusting. His grandson Ali’s gnashing of teeth attitude towards Alexander represents the thoughts of most young people born during the war. They don’t know what peace is. Shooting is their way of saying hello. In their minds, right and wrong are more blurred. There are contradictions not only between ethnic groups, but also between villages. As the doctor lamented, “war is a virus”, which makes people’s faces ferocious for no reason. Killing is no longer a moral corruption, but seeking life stimulation.

Bo Zhen’s death brought great pain to his family. People are used to turning this grief into a debt to be paid with human life, which can be redeemed by killing. The intervention of the United Nations was useless. There were no fewer wars. They just sent people to collect the bodies. Although this is the doctor’s angry words, it also reflects the local situation.

Love came to Corey and Alexander in much the same way. They all thought of their beloved women (Samina and Hannah Hariri) and dreamed that they appeared in front of the window on the night of rainstorm. They woke up at midnight and found that they were really in front of them. But it hasn’t rained outside the window. Samina let Corey know how to resist the gap between nations. Hannah begged Alexander to do something to rescue her daughter Samina. Taking photos cannot save the current situation. Alexander must make more efforts and sacrifices. He saved Samina in full view of the public, and those who had just called him brothers raised their shotguns to him. This so-called just execution can be seen everywhere, and justice has long left the country.

People shoot their relatives and friends for inexplicable dignity and justice, and then grieve for their death. Is this the final victory they seek? Alexander defended the justice he thought with his life and brought the light of peace back to Macedonia again. Although the fire is extremely weak, a single spark can start a prairie fire.

The rain fell. The fire of peace embarked on the journey in the heavy rain.

3、 Tomorrow’s red should be everywhere

“Rainstorm is coming” is the ring structure of the story. From the first story to the third story in chronological order, it returns to the beginning of the first story at the end of the film.

The story of the film is not as simple as restarting at the end. In each story, we can see the past, present and future of things. As the priest muttered to himself at the beginning: “time does not die, there are more than one circle.” Every event in the circle is closely linked, and it is difficult to explain where it starts and ends.
